Tator Salad

I know that a lot of the Imitators are gone this weekend to a music festival down at Southern, but I wanted to make sure that everyone knew that we ARE STILL HAVING TATOR SALAD for those that can come this Friday, February 19, 2010.  We will NOT watch the video that we made at the previous Tator Salad, but instead, we’ll spend some time watching a Nooma and then discussing it.  There will be some snacks to enjoy.  I hope we have a good crowd there even though some may be gone this weekend.  See you there!

Roller Skating Recap…

Twenty Seven Imitators showed up for roller skating this past Saturday night.  I wasn’t sure how many we would have, but it ended up being quite a success.  Events where there doesn’t have to be a lot of planning or preparation are the best, and this one fit the bill.  I was surprised to see that everyone left before the time was up, and I ended up leaving about 10:40pm.  Thank you to all the parents that stayed up to transport your kids back and forth.  And, a special thanks to all those parents that stayed and helped supervise.  That was a relieving!  Thanks for your support of the Youth program here at our church.

Here are a couple pictures that I thought you might like to see:

Tator Salad Report!

I had a blast tonight!  We had such a great group of people at Tator Salad.  Dr. Myers and Tom Vandenhoven were there just because they love youth.  A special thanks goes to Maelyn McMillan for organizing the food for this evening.  I hope she continues doing it every Tator Salad.  I’m so happy that I could be the pastor for such a great group of young people.  They’re awesome!!!

Tonight, we talked about the demoniacs and who controls our hearts and minds.  Here is what the Imitators said about control a couple weeks ago…

Youth Leadership Council Party!

Tonight we had a party for the members of the Youth Leadership Council.  They do a tremendous job leading the youth with their planning, interaction, and participation in anything Imitator related.  The food of choice was fondue, and it was really good.  After eating as much fruit, marshmallows, pound cake and pretzels covered in chocolate and caramel, we all gathered around for a bit of Wii action!  It was fun!!!  If you see one of these people around, give them a special thanks for their leadership here in Greeneville.  I wonder who will be on the Youth Leadership Council next year…

Latest Tator Salad Video

I just wanted you to have a look at the great youth that are in our church.  This is the video that we made back in November but watched for the first time tonight at Tator Salad.  They came up with their own answers.  I was impressed.  ENJOY!!!

Tator Salad-January 22

This is just a reminder that there will be Tator Salad this Friday night, January 22, 2010 from 7-9pm in the youth room.  I am looking for someone or a couple of someones (Adults/Parents) that would be willing to start coming to Tator Salad on a fairly consistent basis to learn how the program works, connect with the Imitators, and then be a co-leader of Tator Salad.  There are a couple Tator Salads that are scheduled in a couple months that I cannot be there, so I need someone else to lead it.  If you have the slightest interest in helping with Tator Salad, let me know.

Too Busy!!!

Do you ever feel like there is always something that is happening…like you always have to be somewhere or be doing something?  Do you ever feel like you are always running?  I feel like there is so much happening right now that one more event would be too much!

If you are faithful at looking on the website to see what the upcoming events are, you would have seen an Imitator event that was scheduled to happen this Saturday night.  Well, due to the fact that the Youth Leadership Council has not been able to meet since Christmas, and a lack of “advertising” opportunity, I think that it would be best if we pushed this event to a further date so more people will know about it and have time to plan.  In short, we are postponing Saturday night’s event to another date.

However, Tator Salad WILL be happening on January 22.  A special apology goes to Dr. Robert Thomas and anyone else that showed up this passed Friday night and was surprised to see no one inside even though you had been faithfully following the false information that I neglected to take off the upcoming events page.

If you have any questions or comments, please let me know.

Christmas Ourtreach Report

The few but faithful spent a Sabbath afternoon at Morning Pointe Assisted Living Center bringing cheer to the residents there.  Seven Imitators, including Karissa Ramsay, Giselle Bird, Sy Gallimore, Jonathan Thomas, Peter Wolcott, Joseph Mayfield, and Maci McMillan, along with a few parents, arrived to find Ed Bagwell and crew already warming up the residents for our “program.”  We sang six or seven Christmas carols and then spent a few minutes speaking with individual residents about their Christmas memories or traditions.  At the conclusion of these visits, each resident was presented with a Christmas card that was made the night before at Tator Salad.  It was a rewarding experience to see the smiles of some lonely people.  I believe that I was blessed more than them.

"Therefore, be IMITATORS of Christ as beloved children." Ephesians 5:1
